If Southeast Asian flavours warm your heart and tummy, then food at Sugarlane will give you much joy. The latest addition to Eat Street at The Canopy has been inspired following the success of Coogee’s beachside Thai restaurant, Sugercane. Its menu features hits from seasoned chef Milan Strbac’s original dining list including rice cakes with prawns, crispy chicken with plum sauce and wagyu beef rendang. You can make a day of it by choosing from a 50-strong wine list or its Southeast Asian-inspired cocktails. If you’re willing to put your food fate into Sugarlane’s hands, take up the restaurant’s offer of a ‘Trust Me Menu’. It’s $60 per person and serves 2-5 guests, or $70 per person if you want dessert.

Garcon’s journey began at its Tramsheds location. The venture by Ed Cutcliffe – the man behind boutique roaster The Little Marionette and Trafalgar Street Espresso – was inspired by Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel to offer a down-to-earth hangout for locals to enjoy coffee, brunches, and budget-friendly table wine along with the premium stuff. Its the success of its Tramsheds venue that’s brought Garcon to The Canopy in Lane Cove. The cafe and wine bar is serving breakfast, lunch and dinner with a French-bistro inspired food menu that’ll have your empty summer days filled with a drink in hand and a nice meal on the side.
