When it comes to extending your child artistically, confidence and creativity is everything. But fostering these things in your child can be difficult. We as parents might avoid art time with our children altogether in an attempt to minimise mess at home or minimise the endless artworks being produced. And with our schedules jam-packed with back-to-back activities for the kids, signing up for weekly art lessons can just feel too much. As a local, qualified art educator, artist and mum, Ros Gervay founded The Mini Artiste Club to help parents traverse these challenges. Yes, the club is online and includes optional art supply deliveries. Yes, the club explores a whole range of mediums including painting, drawing and sculpting. Yes, the club comes with video tutorials, written instructions and bonus art activity ideas. But what The Mini Artiste Club does best is empower 4yo+ children to express their individuality, increase their problem-solving abilities, develop their fine motor skills and enhance their self esteem. Single art-making kits; monthly delivery subscriptions and digital subscription options available from only $9.95. NSW Creative Kids Provider.
Twigs + Blossoms Craft Studio is a small, relaxed studio space located in leafy Castle Cove.
Owned and run by a local North Shore Mum with teenage girls, the idea for the studio was fuelled by a trip to Asia where we were able to immerse ourselves in day long classes learning weaving, dying and cooking with local artisans/ chefs. Added to that were lots of requests for sewing and craft classes and parties after closing the boutique store (Twigs + Blossoms) that was located in Killarney Heights.
Trained as a fashion designer and patternmaker, plus 17 years working with product as a buyer, the love of design and making is inherent in Liz’s life from when she was young, always being surrounded by a ‘family of makers’ and artists.
The Summer 2021 School Program has just launched with a ‘Small is the new Big’ Focus to learning. We have focused on Learn to Sew Workshops with a class size of 4 (1:2 ratio) as well as teen classes and macrame making.
We also offer Adult Sewing Classes (started late in 2020, these were a highlight of the year!) and boutique style craft parties in the studio with 2021 hoping to increase from 10 to 12 children under covid safe restrictions.
If you would like to connect with us and receive our monthly updates on what’s on in the studio, please pop through to our website and sign up to our newsletter. Craft is a great way to disconnect and find some zen time in our hectic lives.
