An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Sunday, repeating until February 16, 2025
Want to walk in the footsteps of the men and women who protected Sydney’s coastline during the Second World War (WW2)? Book the Defence of Sydney Tour and explore North Fort – a historic Army base set within bushland at North Head Sanctuary, Manly.
Accompanied by a knowledgeable tour guide, you’ll descend into a military tunnel system and interact with a heritage gun emplacement, once capable of firing 26.4km out to sea. Plus, you’ll unearth the secrets of the Plotting Room – this underground wartime bunker was shrouded in mystery during WW2 and has been faithfully restored by specialist Harbour Trust volunteers.
The Defence of Sydney Tour is appropriate for all ages and is run by the Harbour Trust every Sunday. The tour has a duration of 1 hour and 45 mins and it is also available for private group bookings.
Time: 10:30am, 11:30am, 1pm & 2pm
