Willoughby Carols, Willoughby Park, Saturday December 2, 4pm-8pm. An evening of rides, entertainment and caroling for all! Now in its 11th year, Willoughby Park Carols is one of those unmissable community events where you can set down a picnic rug or deck chairs and settle in for a night of relaxed festive fun. “The event will kick off at 4pm with entertainment and activities to get you in the Christmas mood. Entertain the kids with rides on the oval, interactive circus activities with Circus Akimbo and fun arts and crafts. Enjoy an extensive range of international food or pick up some Christmas gifts at the market stalls. And don’t miss the opportunity to have your free photo taken with the big man in red! Enjoy pre-carols entertainment from Willoughby Ukestars, the Salvation Army brass band, Industry Arts and the Jazz Factory. As the sun sets, the popular Willoughby Symphony Choir and Willoughby Band return to perform all your favourite carols at 7pm – make sure to warm up your voices for a sing-along and get there early to secure a good seat! You may have just visited the residents of the Avenues in Willoughby for Halloween, and their efforts are replicated in their Christmas decorations – it always makes for a lovely family stroll at dusk.
Lane Cove Council now offers an online map of decorated homes, as well as prizes for best home, best street and people’s choice. You can register prior to, or view the map from Dec 8 (Click for more).
Chauvel St in North Ryde, Cambage Court in Davidson and Prince Albert Street in Mosman are also well worth visiting each year.

A Christmas event, free for kids! This Christmas bring your kids on a musical journey through Claude Debussy’s The Toybox. Open their eyes and capture their imaginations with this ‘ballet for children,’ as it reveals all the secrets of the toybox. From Sydney ensemble Thoroughbass, this 2018 interpretation of the 1919 ballet is a magical entrée to one of the most influential French composers of all time. Inviting little bodies with big imaginations to join us in the round on the floor, and get up close to some of the earliest musical instruments. (Fixed seating for parents and grandparents).
