Locals are loving the newest addition to the Artarmon Village shopping precinct.

With fresh meats, fresh produce, a full grocery offering, and take home meals, Centro Store in Artarmon is providing a new solution for shoppers and commuters in a busy part of the North Shore community.

The new store follows on from the success of other Centro stores such as the one in Milsons Point, where the iconic star logo makes it easy to spot next to the famous North Sydney Luna Park welcome arch.

Centro is a family run business, led by Mike Khassawneh, who has successfully operated in the grocery industry for more than a decade. He has particular experience sourcing international products to cater for the many different cultural demographics that frequent Centro stores.

“We specifically chose Artarmon as we knew the area was in need of a quality high-end
supermarket that could fulfil the requirements of the local residents. It was a perfect opportunity to capitalise on the recently vacated Commonwealth Bank site,“ Mike said.

“I have always noticed with every suburb we open; the locals are all so different. Artarmon is a multicultural suburb and there is a great buzz about it. Being a multicultural demographic, we have to ensure we cater for all tastes.”

Since opening in January it hasn’t taken long for Mike and his team to get to know the Artarmon community.

“So far, I have met some wonderful locals, some I have become good friends with. Every day working in our Artarmon store has been a pleasure. I, as well as the rest of the team, look forward to meeting and making new friends!”

Centro Stores are part of the wider IGA group, where the smaller format stores are branded as Centro. All stores carry the same core range, but Mike listens to his customers and offers an extended range when required.

They’ve included specific foods from overseas for sale in the Centro Artarmon store to suit the clientele, focusing primarily on popular hard to source and in demand USA products as well as unique Asian products.

“We are humbled by the positive feedback and vibe we get from our customers, which assures us that we are doing a good job. They are very satisfied, love the produce quality, large meat section and huge ready-to-heat meals and salads. We know we are doing something right and has us poised for great growth,” Mike said.

Shoppers can also use Centro’s home delivery ordering service.

“We have an extensive online delivery service where customer can order directly from our website https://shop.centrostore.com.au/ with no commission fees customers enjoy the benefit from the IGA Local Grocer Milsons Point weekly promotions,” Mike explained.

“Centro is a name chosen that encapsulates a place of central point. It enables people to feel that our retail outlets are centred around specially chosen areas. A place to gather and shop, central to a specific location.”

“The Centro family is large and we are all involved with the everyday running of our businesses. Our ethos and core values are the same and our valued team is all aligned,” he said.

And what do the locals think?

“Our Artarmon locals and office workers are very happy with our product range and great
service we offer. They are not shy to provide feedback and we often conduct market research to ensure we are on point with consumer expectation and satisfaction,” Mike said.

“As they say “every business’s greatest asset are its customers, because without customers there is no business” we live and breathe by this mantra.”
