We’ve uncovered some amazing gift ideas from local businesses, as well as some lovely events happening nearby to help you celebrate Mother’s Day…

Temples and Markets

Northbridge resident, Judith Treanor, began Temples and Markets three years ago after a chance meeting with a jewellery designer in Cambodia. The formerly homeless designer was now employing local village women to handcraft her designs; and it is these sorts of artisan products that you usually only stumble across while travelling that Judith wished to expose to a broader market. As she points out, “I know I’m not the only one who comes back from trips reminiscing about all the things I wished I’d bought but, due to budget or luggage constraints, I’d left behind. The aim is to make these pieces available once travellers have returned home”.

This Mother’s Day, Judith has personally curated a Temples and Markets Gift Guide showcasing beautiful jewellery, accessories, bags and decorative gifts. In particular, the Charmed Lotus Collection (pictured above) by the Senhoa Foundation, who empower, employ and emancipate women rescued from human trafficking in Cambodia. These resilient women are trained to handcraft stunning designer jewellery while working towards a better future.

You can browse Temple and Markets’ Mother’s Day Gift Guide at https://templesandmarkets.com.au/collections/mothers-day-gifts-may-2018. Plus they’ve launched a Mother’s Day Competition known as ‘Memories of Mum’ running until May 9 – https://templesandmarkets.com.au/pages/mothers-day-competition-memorieswithmum
