The new eatery on everyone’s lips is Smoque, a stunning all-day French Brasserie that’s wowing locals for breakfast, lunch and dinner…

Save yourself the flight and the airfare to Paris by visiting Chatswood’s very own elegant French eatery, Smoque Brasserie. Overlooking the pretty green space of The Concourse, this all-day diner serves up classic Parisian cuisine, catering from leisurely breakfasts to special pre-theatre meals and sophisticated three-course dinners.

Brought to us by locals Marlon and Steven Goldstein of IMAX Hospitality Group, the brasserie fills Chatswood’s void for authentic French cuisine, while complementing the group’s other successful venues, Centre Stage Restaurant and Sugar n Spice in Chatswood Chase.

Early risers can drop by Smoque for a flaky croissant and a steaming cup of espresso, or relax in the elegant dining room with savoury breakfast classics including:

  • Les Omelettes filled with fresh herbs, mushrooms, bacon, cheese and smoked salmon, and served with tomato provencal and baguette
  • Croque Monsieur with double smoked ham, gruyere and dijon béchamel on toasted sourdough

Managing Director Marlon also has a must-try suggestion for the brekkie crowd: “You definitely need to try our Pain Perdu. It’s served with brioche mason, which means house-made brioche, and is just amazing.”

Smoque’s opulent lunch and dinner offerings will whisk you away to the streets of Paris, showcasing the time-honoured techniques of French cuisine. Marlon recommends starting with the Escargots À La Bourguignonne (sizzling snails with herb butter) and the Souffle Au Chèvre (twice-baked goat’s cheese soufflé), followed by stand-out mains including the:

  • Carré D’Agneau Rôti – rack of lamb with potato pavé, confit d’échalotes and rosemary jus)
  • Gnocchi Forestiere – pan-seared ricotta gnocchi with wild mushrooms and burnt butter

“All our meals are cooked fresh to order using the finest local ingredients,” he explains. “We don’t cut any corners. Our chefs are well-trained to use traditional French cooking methods, and the feedback we are getting from our French customers suggests we are nailing it.”

Smoque is also family friendly so you can take along les enfants for their own Kids’ French Menu. One course is $19 and two courses is $29, with favourites such as Grilled Chicken with Paris Mash, and Steak with Pommes Frites. For dessert there is Pavlova, Profiteroles and Ice Cream.

Smoque Brasserie is located just steps from The Concourse making it an ideal spot for a pre-theatre rendezvous. You can wine and dine within an hour with the brasserie’s special $69 two-course menu or, if time allows, treat yourself to the divine three-course option for $85. Your night will be even more memorable under the gentle glow of ambient lighting and surrounded by the elegant French-inspired decor, courtesy of De Champlain Architecture.
