Keeping pre-schoolers entertained can be a challenge, but luckily the local area offers lots of ways to have fun and learn new skills. From dynamic dancing sessions to stimulating sensory play, action-packed multi-sports and so much more, here’s our list of awesome pre-school activities nearby…

Messy Makers at The Greens, The Glasshouse and The Alcott

Captivate and delight your little ones throughout the week with Messy Makers  – the ultimate pre-school activity. This engaging sensory play session is hosted fortnightly on Monday from 10 – 11am at The Glasshouse Artarmon, Thursday from 10:30 – 11:30am at The Greens North Sydney, and Friday from 10 – 11am at The Alcott Lane Cove. Sessions are only $18 per child and you can book online.




Mini Movers Willoughby 

One of the local pre-school activities that’s been entertaining local kids for many years. Sing, dance and craft with your young ones at Willoughby Park Anglican Church’s Mini Movers. Hosted every Wednesday morning at 9:45am, this is an interactive experience with hands-on activities tailored for 2 to 5 year olds. Sessions are $10 including morning tea and craft, or $75 for the 9-week term.


Wild Kindy Play Sessions

Immerse your nature-loving family in the wonders of the wild with Wild Kindy’s weekly play sessions. Come rain or shine, this is a fabulous opportunity to connect and unwind in a unique bushland location. The adventure starts with a Welcome and Storytime, followed by child-led nature games, and ends with reflective circle time. Wild Kindy runs on Tuesday from 10 – 11:30am at Bluegum Reserve in Chatswood, and on Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 – 11am at Field of Mars Reserve in East Ride.  


Willoughby City Council Bush Scramble (monthly) 

Explore one of the local area’s most pristine nature reserves with your little one at Willoughby City Council’s Pre-schoolers Bush Scramble. This captivating event takes place monthly, offering a peaceful nature exploration that includes a short and scenic bushwalk. Your kids will discover the wonders of wildflowers and learn how animals feast on them, before winding down for morning tea (BYO) and story time. Best of all this is one of the pre-school activities that’s free!

Le Petit Ballet Class

Give your kids the chance to dance by enrolling them in a ballet class at Le Petit Ballet school in Northbridge, Chatswood or Willoughby. Their ballet classes follow a magical story journey each term, giving the lessons a special sparkle and teaching your children elegance, grace and amazing posture. 


Multi Sports

Keep your kids happy, fit and healthy by signing them up for kinder sports. Little Legends offers weekly classes at Willoughby Park Bowling Club, Lane Cove Bowling Club and The Diddy, where 2 to 5 year olds can develop their understanding of shapes, colours, numbers and the alphabet through participation in a range of fun skills and games.

Ready Set Dance/Ballet/Move

Let your kids dance their hearts out at Northbridge Dance Studios’ fun classes for 2 to 5 year olds. This beloved local dance studio offers a one-hour combo class of jazz, tap, hip hop, singing and music; a 30-minute magical ballet experience with themed dances and props; and a 45-minute creative movement and music class for 18 months to 3 year olds with nursery rhymes, sensory experiences and free dance. 


Physie Dance

Friendship, fitness and fun collide in North Sydney Physie and Dance’s energetic dance classes. Their talented team runs a tiny tots class for 3 to 4 year olds on Saturday from 10:30 – 11:15am at Northbridge Public School, giving your child exposure to all styles of dance like ballet, jazz, contemporary and pilates.

Gymnastics is always one of the favourite pre-school activities!  At Onyx Gymnastics there are three programs for your little ones to graduate through, starting with the Moonstones for walking to 2.5 year olds, Sunbeams for 2.5 to 4.5 year olds, and Shooting Stars for 4.5 to 5.5 year olds. Art Explorers

Join creative facilitator Karen Elias at Mosman Art Gallery for the FREE monthly ‘Art Explorers‘ program for 3-5 year olds and their carers. Each session has a range of creative and sensory activities to participate in, and with each session focussing on a different exhibition on display within the gallery at the time your little Art Explorer will have something new to discover each month. Sessions run from 10:30am – 12 midday and as parents/carers are required to stay with children we encourage everyone to participate and create together. Mosman Council is committed to creating safer communities for children and young people.
