We’re thrilled to reveal a hot new dining and bar venue called The Alcott is set to open locally with a superstar Chef, Mediterranean inspired menu, alfresco dining space – and a Spritz Bar!

The North Shore will soon be home to an exciting and elegant new dining and bar venue when The Alcott opens its doors in Lane Cove in July. Complete with a modern Mediterranean inspired eatery, a vibrant spritz bar, and a charming outdoor dining terrace, this new, 250-seat contemporary venue will be a first for the area.

Richard Slarp has been appointed Head Chef, and his impressive resume includes Sake, Est, Slip Inn, Aria Catering, and Merivale Chef of the Year in 2005. He plans to deliver a fresh Mediterranean menu with hints of chargrill, which is designed to share and complement the alfresco dining setting. “I am excited to bring Lane Cove a new dining experience that will feature delicious Mediterranean food made with sustainable, local ingredients. The food will be fresh and wholesome and will incorporate a variety of flavours and complementary textures,” says Richard.

Key dishes include a spectacular Whole Southern Calamari and the hearty Saltbush Lamb Ribs, as well as lighter options like the Smoked eggplant with tahini yoghurt, pomegranate and crispy Brussels sprouts with romesco.

The dedicated Spritz Bar will be serving up seasonal cocktails including an Elderflower and Lychee spritz, and a Suze Spritz. There will also be an expansive wine list with a balance of contemporary and classical Australian wine with a European focus.

The Alcott was designed by makeover magicians Pony Design Co, who many in the area know for their previous work which includes The Fernery Mosman and The Greens North Sydney. So it’s going to be stunning!

The name ‘The Alcott’ means ‘old cottage’ and along with the overall design is a tribute to the heritage of the existing site, which had been built on the foundation of a sandstone cottage. “We used the mid-century vibe of the existing building as a muse for the venue’s personality. We adopted bold feature colours that have nostalgic undercurrents to create a warm and textured design that is welcoming and symbolic of The Alcott name,” says Pony Design Co’s Director Natalie Krafczyk.

The Alcott will be home to a variety of spaces and intimate nooks layered with pre-loved finds to symbolize the layers of history within the venue. Two new event rooms will be located on the top floor of the venue giving North Shore residents a much-needed space to celebrate – with Spritz in hand of course!
