It’s been a firm North Sydney favourite for close to three decades and now the Twilight Food Fair is marking its 30 year anniversary with a very special celebration on Friday February 28.
Since its beginnings as the noodle markets in 1990, Friday evenings from October to March have been a fun family affair at North Sydney’s Ted Mack Civic Park. Regulars have enjoyed thousands of delicious meals under the shade of the jacaranda trees and listened to many hours of live music, making this event such a popular and relaxed way to kick off the weekend.
To celebrate on Friday February 28, from 5.30pm, North Sydney Council is pulling out all the stops. There’ll be special activities for the kids including a jumping castle, a tea-cup ride, face painting, airbrush tattoos, umbrella decorating, a story corner with Stanton Library staff and guest appearances from none other than Frozen’s Elsa and Spiderman.
Older kids are also well catered for with a variety of free retro games, foosball tables, giant games including a huge Connect 4 and a circus playground. There will also be a chance to get a special memento of the night with Magnetic Shots – and receive an instant magnetic Twilight polaroid with friends and family to take home.
Bring your appetite because the usual array of international food stalls will be there from Chinese to Indian, Brazilian barbecue and the ever-popular Turkish gozleme. For a sweet treat you can pick up crepes or gelato.
We’re praying that the weather gods play nice and bring a balmy summer evening for us to spread a picnic blanket, enjoy the entertainment and give our ongoing support for this great local event.
